A Bupa dental Implantologist from North Wales has been awarded one of the highest titles in his field, after dedicating the past twelve years to promoting best practice in dental implantology.
Mike Lloyd Hughes, aged 39 and from Caernarfon, has been named a Fellow of the International Team of Implantology (ITI), which is based in Switzerland and is the leading global research and teaching body for the dental implant industry.
Dr Hughes, who is one of the lead Dental Surgeon’s at Bupa owned Menai Bridge Dental Centre, was recognised for his significant contribution as ITI Study Club Director in the region.

With more than 20,000 ITI members around the world, the Fellowship is more than just a title to Dr Hughes. He said: “I was very fortunate to be mentored by an ITI Fellow in my first dentistry job and be taught the important role dental implantology can play in helping people live happier, healthier lives.
“When I was in dental school, teeth extraction was becoming quite a problem in South Wales, and it made me even more determined to help save smiles.”
